SLT Update Sept 21st

21st September 2018

  • On Tuesday, our new sports leaders went to Comberton Village College for their Autumn term conference, taking part in training that will ensure they are successful leaders. (They also received their T-shirts and whistles!). There are numerous courses for them to attend throughout the year to improve their skills; please see emails and the leadership board in PE.

  • Be aware that there will be no enrichment on Thursday 27th September due to our College Open Evening. The Royston buses will therefore collect students at 3.00pm on this day. The college is closed on Friday 28th September for staff training.

  • Photographs – Van Cols are returning on Thursday 27th September at 1.45pm to take photographs of students who were not present on Thursday 6th September.  They will also be taking sibling and prefect photographs.  Please let Janine Savage know if you would like a sibling photograph. jsavage@melbournvc.org

  • We are excited to be hosting a Chinese teacher for this academic year as part of the Hanban Teacher Programme.  She is arriving on 26th September and we are currently looking for accommodation for her in the Melbourn or Royston area (as she will not have her own transport).  She requires a furnished bedroom, with access to a kitchen and sitting area.  If anyone is able to help on a short or longer term, please contact Janine Savage on jsavage@melbournvc.org

  • The organisers of the Cambridge Town and Gown 10k run on Sunday, 21st October would like volunteers to marshal the start and finish line and route, distribute goodie bags, etc. If any students (especially Sports Leaders) are interested in helping out, please contact http://www.townandgown10k.com/cambridge/

  • We are delighted that so many of our alumni have responded to our requests for information on what you’re up to now. Please keep them coming – with photo, as our ‘Somebody Amazing Starts At Melbourn Village College’ posters are a great inspiration to our current students.

  • If you’re considering a rewarding career in teaching (we always need more of you!), please see the information on our Facebook page and website.

  • Finally, please see the Autumn programme for FREE 90 mins Positive Parent Tasters and Workshops on our Facebook page and website.

Have a relaxing weekend.

Regina Lawrence

Deputy Principal
