We are delighted to be able to hold our Open Evening in person this year on Thursday 23rd September 2021. Whilst there are a number of amendments to what we might consider a ‘normal’ Open Evening, the centre of our planning is to allow you and your child the opportunity to visit different classrooms and meet our staff.
Upon arrival you will be able to tour the school following a given route and see each subject area. Teaching staff and the Senior Team will be available to answer any questions you might have. In order to allow more time for this and to avoid a large number of families mixing in close proximity we will not be having the usual talk by Mr Holmes in the hall – instead, this will be uploaded to the school website in the ‘About Us’ section later next week. Many of our changes are to do with reducing the mixing of large numbers of people. We have adapted our usual activities around the school and would also ask that where possible:
Parents of Year 5 pupils consider waiting until next year to attend – or book a school tour during the day either in the Spring or Summer Term.
Families try to avoid bringing siblings and consider only one parent attending.
Attendees wear masks.
Families stick to the route provided – this will ensure that you visit all the areas of the school site and reduce congestion in our corridors.
In addition, whilst the evening is nominally from 6:30pm to 8:30pm we are suggesting that parents and pupils arrive in two different time slots, depending on their primary school:
Barrington, Fowlmere, Foxton, Harston & Newton, Hauxton: Arrive between 6:30pm and 7:00pm
Melbourn, Meldreth, Thriplow, Other primaries: Arrive between 7:00pm and 7:30pm
We appreciate that some families may not want to attend a large-scale event such as the Open Evening but may still want to visit the school to look round. We are therefore able to offer school tours either during or after the school day, to fit your circumstances. (Tours are also available to families who attend the Open Evening). To book a school tour, please email Sosan Javaid: firstname.lastname@example.org

How to apply for a place in Year 7
For Cambridgeshire residents, the application process for admissions into Year 7 is co-ordinated by Cambridgeshire Local Authority (LA), which acts on behalf of the governing body to offer places at the school. Parents should apply online at www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/admissions or submit a Cambridgeshire Application Form, available from their child’s primary school or from the LA Admissions team, no later than the LA deadline at the end of October. Offer letters will be issued by the LA on the National Offer Date (1st March or first working day after). Late applications (those submitted between the October deadline and the end of the co-ordination period) will be handled by the Admissions team.
For further information and specific dates, please refer to the full scheme for secondary co-ordination, available from the LA Admissions Team or from the website,www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/admissions
